Breyden GmbH
Breyden GmbH – one of the leading brake disc manufacturers in Europe – has relied on a partnership with Manage Now since the beginning of 2024. At the center of the collaboration are the modernization and optimization of the SAP landscape as well as the introduction of forward-looking SAP cloud services. The result is an efficient, scalable, and secure IT environment that supports Breyden’s growth and prepares it for upcoming regulatory requirements.
Challenges
Breyden, a traditional company in the automotive supplier sector with a focus on the development and production of high-quality brake discs, faced the challenge of modernizing increasingly complex business processes and preparing them for future requirements. Strong growth, increasing regulatory requirements (including CO₂ reporting and Euro 7 standards), and internal restructuring led to a clear need for action.
The focus was particularly on:
- a historically fragmented SAP system landscape
- limited transparency across inventory, production, and supply processes
- high manual effort in reporting and analyses
- increasing requirements for data security and compliance
Solution
Together with Manage Now, Breydendeveloped a comprehensive and step-by-step modernization strategy for its SAP landscape. The focus was on both the licensing and optimization of existing SAP software components and the migration of selected processes to the SAP Cloud. The goal was to standardize processes, reduce manual effort, and at the same time create a scalable IT architecture that reliably supports future regulatory requirements. The focus was not only on the technical implementation, but also on an economically viable licensing strategy and supporting employees through the change process.
Implemented measures:
- Optimization of the licensing landscape: needs analysis, consolidation, and realignment of SAP licenses to avoid over-licensing and reduce costs
- Migration to a hybrid SAP architecture: supplementing local systems with scalable cloud solutions to combine stability and flexibility
- Integration of SAP Cloud Services: use of SAP Analytics Cloud for modern reporting & dashboards as well as concept development for the SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) for possible interfaces and extensions in the future
- Preparatory measures for the planned future introduction of SAP S/4 HANA: creating a basis for a module-optimized implementation, e.g. in the areas of Finance and Production Planning for end-to-end core processes
- Training & change management: supporting the IT teams and specialist departments during the introduction in order to secure knowledge and create acceptance
Results
The close collaboration with Manage Now has enabled Breydennot only to modernize the SAP environment technically, but also to strategically align it for the future. Today, the company benefits from noticeably more efficient processes, better data transparency and a flexible IT architecture that supports growth and regulatory requirements alike. At the same time, optimizing the license landscape made it possible to create a long-term economically advantageous foundation.
Key results at a glance:
- Improved process continuity: Production, logistics and planning processes now run seamlessly, transparently and automatically –isolated solutions and manual intermediate steps are a thing of the past.
- Significant increase in efficiency: Manual analysis effort was noticeably reduced, internally estimated at up to 40% –giving management and specialist departments reliable decision-making bases more quickly.
- Flexible scalability & cloud security: Thanks to the hybrid SAP architecture, Breydencan respond flexibly to market changes and at the same time benefits from increased data security.
- Optimized license costs: Strategic license consulting by Manage Now led to an optimized, sustainable consolidation and an economically viable mixed calculation of on-Premise and cloud components.
- Future-proof IT infrastructure: With the new SAP environment, Breydenis technologically very well positioned to master both regulatory requirements and further growth.
