SupplyOn AG Globally highly available supply chains

SupplyOn operates a global supply chain management platform with the highest requirements for availability, security, and scalability – particularly for critical industries such as automotive and aerospace. Together with Manage Now, the IT infrastructure, including the core applications, was successfully migrated to modern data centers, with operations ensured at all times without incidents, apart from short migration downtimes.

Challenge

The existing data center infrastructure could no longer meet the growing requirements for security, scalability, and flexibility. In particular, the increasing number of global customers and the rising data load made modernization essential. At the same time, the business-critical SCC platform had to be operated around the clock – even during the migration.

Solution

Based on the structured approach and transition framework of Manage Now the migration wasjointly planned with SupplyOn and executed in 73 carefully coordinated waves, aligned with production cycles and the compliance requirements of SupplyOn and its global customers. This approach minimized risks and ensured uninterrupted system
availability. Two ultra-modern data centers in Frankfurt now form the technological foundation for a future-proof, stable and secure platform.

Results

  • 100% incident-free migration continuous operations maintained
  • Highly available infrastructure with 99.99 % system availability, including the core applications
  • Scalable and flexible IT landscape for dynamic requirements
  • Use of state-of-the-art technologies for performance, security, and transparency
  • Energy-efficient, sustainable platform for long-term growth

Dynamic networking for global supply chains

The technological foundation is a stable, highly available platform for supply chain collaboration (SCC) for complex industries such as the automotive and aerospace industries. Companies exchange data in real time via this platform in order to manage their supply chains efficiently, resiliently and in compliance with regulations. For secure, high-performance and scalable operations, SupplyOn requires an IT and application landscape that meets the highest standards. “We intended to bring our entire IT environment up to the latest technical state. At the same time, all resources must be flexibly scalable in order to enable a maximum degree of individualization. In addition, the infrastructure must adapt optimally to our continuous growth,” explains Arno Lais, Vice PresidentIT-Operations at SupplyOn.

Partnership with SupplyOn

The collaboration with Manage Now has already existed for over 20 years and forms the backbone of the IT infrastructure of SupplyOn. The basis of the collaboration is dedicated private cloud services, extensive application management as well as services such as monitoring, backup, and database administration. Due to the positive experience, the collaboration was extendeduntil the end of2030 – a strong sign of mutual trust and strategic continuity. As part of this extended partnership, the complete SCC platform of SupplyOn was migrated to twostate-of the-art Manage Now data centers in Frankfurt am Main. There, Manage Now is responsible for end-to-end operations– including all business-critical core applications– as an end-to-end service partner. In close operational coordination with the IT teams of SupplyOn and their partners, platform operations are ensured at the highest level of security and quality.

Migration with precision – without interruption

The migration was carried out over a period of 1.5 years in 73 precisely planned waves. A classic migration within a few months was not possible due to the business-critical system availability at SupplyOn and its worldwide customers. Through Manage Now’s proven Transition Framework, operation of the platform could be ensured at all times– without any service interruption. Together with a dedicated team of more than 100 subject-matter experts – consisting of specialists from Manage Now, SupplyOn and other partners – exceptional results were achieved. All measures were closely aligned with the customer’s production cycles and CI/CD pipeline – taking its compliance requirements into account.

Modern technology for maximum future security

The new foundation for the SCC platform of SupplyOn meets the highest requirements for availability, performance, scalability and security – thereby creating the technological foundation for a future-proof, stable operation. Continuous system monitoring is based on a modern Observability approach, through which critical events can be identified early and rapid responses made possible. The two data centers in Frankfurt are not only technologically state of the art, but are also designed for maximum energy efficiency and sustainability – including operation with green electricity .

Forward-looking foundation for innovation and growth

The migration marks a milestone in the digital infrastructure strategy of SupplyOn. “The relocation of our IT infrastructure represents a quantum leap for our data center operations,” summarizes Arno Lais, Vice President IT-Operations, SupplyOn AG. With a highly available, sustainable and scalable platform, SupplyOn creates the technological foundation to further expand its role as a key player in global supply chains – supported by an experienced and forward-looking IT partner.

State-of-the-art technology for sustainability and security

The new data center locations of Manage Now are characterized by high energy efficiency and are operated with green electricity. “This enables us to significantly reduce our CO₂ footprint,” emphasizes Arno Lais, Vice President IT Operations at SupplyOn. Security, too, is where the infrastructure sets new standards: Customer-specific requirements are precisely mapped through clearly separated security zones within the data centers – for maximum data sovereignty and compliance.
