BARTEC is a globally leading provider of safe and specialized technologies for hazardous areas – with 50 years of experience in explosion protection and more than 1,000 employees worldwide. Since 2019, BARTEC has relied on SAP hosting by Manage Now. As part of the partnership, the existing SAP operations were successfully migrated to Manage Now’s modern FMO data center – with continuous operation and a closely coordinated migration project. The result: a highly available, future-proof platform with maximum security, scalability, and transparency.

Challenges

BARTEC operates internationally and sets the highest standards in terms of security, quality, and reliability – including in IT. The existing data center infrastructure was increasingly reaching its limits in the face of continuously growing requirements for availability, scalability, and security regulations, as well as rising data volumes. In addition to the need to elevate SAP operations to a new technological level, it had to be ensured that all business-critical processes continued to run without restriction during the migration. The challenge: an uninterrupted transition within a tight timeframe.

Solution

In close, collaborative coordination with BARTEC, the migration to Manage Now’s state-of-the-art FMO data center was planned and successfully completed within just three months. A joint project kick-off and a structured migration workshop—aligned with BARTEC’s needs and requirements laid the foundation for a smooth approach. BARTEC’s SAP landscape comprises nine core systems, including six SAP ERP Business Suite systems, two SAP Business Connector instances, and one SAP Router. All systems were migrated to the new platform without interruption and brought live productively. In day-to-day operations, BARTEC now benefits from comprehensive support and state-of-the-art technologies:

• SAP Basis Services incl. database operations and Business Connector Services
• Central Customer Service Portal for efficient communication and governance
• IT-security services, e.g. Managed Unified Threat Management, Endpoint Protection, and Security Incident Response
• Network operations with Managed VPN, secured internet access, and site connections

In addition, the platform delivers maximum transparency, energy efficiency, and scalability. All productive applications and databases are hosted on high-performance virtual machines operated in the Manage Now data center in Frankfurt am Main—in a modern environment that meets the highest requirements for data protection, availability, and compliance.
